A day late

We are behind in almost everything here in Africa. Shows, news, fashion, sports, time, internet, weather – you name it, I probably haven’t heard of it or seen it.

You find creative ways to get around ‘being behind.’ ….and since everyone else I live with is in the same boat, I don’t feel so far behind, except when………

......it comes down to Sporting Events! I love sports. I love to watch them, not so much play them, but watch. I cheer them on, I have favorite teams and players.

So, during the most watched football game all around the world, I was one of those watching it hours away from the actual event, making sure I didn’t get on the Internet for fear I would see who won, totally defeating the whole purpose of watching the game. It’s more than just a Superbowl here at Thrive, it is a family tradition. Together, all of us gather around a big screen, to watch an event billions have already seen. We eat lots of great food, pick a team to root for, yell and scream, hoop and holler, and cheer our team on to victory. This year was no different – piling into the house, all 17 of us sat in our strategically designed theater seating with couches and cushy seats watching the overly sized players on the jumbo screen. It was a real good time….even if we were a day late.
