I was deeply touched today by how real and present God is. He is always preparing us. He is always leading us. He is always here with us. He created us with passions and He knows what motivates us. The things that move and break Him, He has let us see them and feel them. He has placed within us the desire to be His hands, His feet.
Today I took 16 youth and their leaders to the Harrismith Hospital to “lay hands on the sick” just as Jesus tells us. One of the girls has dreamed of becoming a medical missionary. As she was getting ready to come here to serve, she gathered donated toiletry items and packaged them up, praying over each one, getting more and more excited, telling her teacher later, “This is what I was born to do!” with passion and excitement in her voice. She led her group in that hospital, reflecting on each patient, conferring what they could do better for the next patient. She led conversations and prayers from bedside to bedside. Then, it happened………
BROKEN. God was breaking her for the things that break His. She came out of one patient’s room and she had tears streaming down her face which was followed by uncontrollable sobs and a body paralysis that left her motionless on the hospital hallway floor. Satan whispered in her ear, “You can’t do this. You were not meant to be a medical missionary. You can’t be used by God. You aren’t even really sure you like this sort of thing. Don’t go forward. You can’t do this.”
Satan tries to twist and make ugly all that God has in store for us. He preys on those that will make a difference in this world. He strikes those who do and make a difference in God’s kingdom. He wants to put up a blockade on the path that God has for us.
This girl was shaken, but did not surrender. She did not let Satan wezzel his way in, beating her down with his lies and deceit. Her friends sat on the floor with her, prayed with her, declared God’s truth all over her, and she rose up. She stood to her feet, wiped off her tears, and through her actions, boldly declared;
No way, no how. Satan is under my feet and I will trample him. I will rise up victorious in God’s calling on my life. All praise, glory, and honor will be the Lords. God will guide and direct and has placed a calling and a passion on my life. He will hold my hand and together we will walk the path. Yes, I will move forward. Yes, I can’t do this on my own strength, but with God by my side, anything is possible. Yes, I can be used by God. Yes, I do have passions that God has given me. Yes, I will go forward. Yes, I can do this with Christ who strengthens me.
How would you respond?
