Going to AFRICALions and Elephants and Maasai Oh my!
My sabbatical starts in Africa in July 2019 with a small tour through (1) Malawi, Zambia and Botswana designed for solo travelers. Then I meet my family (Doug, Ryan and Elaina) in Kenya for a traditional safari to (2) Ngorongoro crater, Serengeti and Maasai Mara. After a brief beach holiday on Zanzibar (3), Doug and Ryan go home and Elaina and I go on to our first volunteer adventure with Friendly Water for the World in the northwestern corner of Tanzania. The month of September, we will be working in Mutongo, Uganda. I will be working in the local healthcare clinic and Elaina will be working in the local school. |

We teach people to fabricate, distribute, install, and maintain BioSand Water Filters. BioSand Filters are a low-cost, locally implemented technology that are proven to remove bacteria, viruses, protozoa, amoebae, worms, and heavy metals from the water supply.
FRIENDLY WATER |
WE TRANSFORM LIVES ABROAD
Friendly Water for the World works with communities around the world who have little in the way of access to resources, except for their own intelligence, resilience, pent-up initiative, labor, generosity, and caring. By sharing our knowledge and providing training in ensuring clean water, we help to end a culture of dependency, enabling people and communities to take charge of their lives. And in doing so, we take charge of our own. |
